After School Programs |
Our Unique Model of Youth Engagement
Our after-school programs focus on three very specific developmental tasks for adolescents. First is the formation of one’s individual sense of identity; second is the achievement of a felt sense of connection and belonging with others in one’s peer group; third is experiencing a sense of purpose and value by giving to the benefit of a larger community. Our holistic focus in all these domains leads to enhanced self-confidence and often evokes transformative emotional healing for youth during this critical period of development.
Dynamic & Fun Social Emotional Learning Activities
We engage teens in fun, multisensory activities to help them investigate their inner life and become more aware of the mental, emotional and behavioral habit patterns that currently comprise their way of functioning and outlook on life. Through games, stories, and movement, participants are led through a graduated series of whole-brain, whole body, and mindful exploration exercises that deepen their relationship with self, others and the natural world.
Three Distinct Levels of Engagement
- Creating a container that allows teens to feel relaxed and emotionally safe through introductory games, movement, and basic mindfulness exercises.
- As the program progresses and individual self-awareness rises the teens are provided with more advanced games and opportunities for deeper levels of social and emotional risk taking.
- Teens use their new awareness and communication skills to brainstorm and collaborate with peers and adults in designing service learning projects.
iBme has worked with numerous types of after school populations and settings including community centers, foster care networks, public school and private school after-school programs and working with inner city youth. We have completed one-day workshops, weekly meetings, and worked with numerous programs to fit our program to the time they have available.
