Adult Retreats |
We provide training, coaching and mentoring for parents and adult professionals through daylong and weekend residential retreats and in-service training at schools and agencies.
Parenting teens is hard work, as is being a helping professional for teens (counselor, teacher, psychologist, social worker, nurse). Care takers often experience burnout, compassionate fatigue or vicarious trauma.
iBme helps adult care givers and parents to examine the physical, emotional, and spiritual signs that indicate their need for self-care. Through an integration of mindfulness and social emotional learning approaches, we provide tools to help restore one’s sense of inner peace, maintain balance, sustain vitality and to better know one’s own limits. We also teach parents and professionals ways to bring these practices into the home, school, or therapy office as they work with teens.
Key to all programs is the practice of mindfulness- present moment, non-judgmental awareness. Participants are invited to unplug from electronic media and spend time learning simple practices for relaxing the body and calming the mind.
Portions of each day are spent in silence, noticing body sensations, breath and sound. As their ability to sustain present-centered focus is developed, participants often become aware of the emotions that underlie their thoughts and body sensations. Thus, the practice of these awareness skills is matched with periods of interpersonal exploration within small peer group discussions, which provide a safe and friendly atmosphere to share emotions, deeply listen and be heard.

Along with periods of silence and facilitated sharing, participants connect through activities of creative expression, mindful movement, original play, and the sharing of wholesome meals.
