What Is Mindfulness? |
“Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment with kindness and curiosity.” -Dr. Amy Saltzman
iBme teaches mindfulness as a set of awareness practices that lead to more balanced and authentic living. These are practices for training the mind to be present, relaxed and open, reflective and responsive to the ever changing, moment to moment experience of one’s life.
On the way to achieving these qualities of mind, participants are led through a graduated series of exercises that develop increased skills of concentration, increased ability and willingness towards self-introspection, greater levels of compassion towards oneself and others, and increased access to the insight and wisdom at the depths of one’s inner life.
Our exercises empower teens and others to gain and maintain happiness in particular and more balanced mental and emotional health. As they awaken to the direct knowledge of how to manage their states of mind they become motivated to practice these simple techniques and develop critical social and emotional competencies.
Imagine a future inhabited by teens who have access to their deepest intuition and wisdom, who are in touch with and committed to living from their authentic being, who are able to make self-directed and discerning decisions, who are skilled at intentional focusing of attention and empowered with skills for balanced and harmonious living.
